About the Business Leaders

These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly.

About the teacher and students

The event was created by Kirsty Charman for 150 students at The Basildon Upper Academy aged Age 14 - 18.

Event description

Inspire our students - Raise awareness and aspirations

Our aim is to raise aspirations and awareness of high impact careers that can be pursued by students. Demonstrate the relevance of what is taught in the classroom and how it relates to today's job market. It is an opportunity for students to gain an understanding of the skills and roles needed for work today.

Students will be in Year 11 or sixth form - Talks will be for 30 minutes with questions. Groups will have a maximium of 30 students and be delivered to five different groups.

In this session, business leaders will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
