Event description

Come join our Careers Fair

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: STEM Careers Event- date TBC

I have recently been appointed as the lead teacher of STEM at St Birinus School in Didcot. I am passionate about promoting STEM, not only within my school, but within the wider locality. The shortage of engineers and people with STEM skills is well-recognised and in-part is attributed to the relatively small numbers of young people choosing to study STEM subjects after GCSEs. I feel there is a general lack of awareness amongst young people about what STEM career opportunities are available on leaving formal education, both at the age of 15/16 and at 17/18.

To this end I would like to set up a STEM focussed careers event initially for students from years 10, 11, 12 and 13, inviting local companies to showcase potential STEM careers and promote and advertise potential employment/education opportunities. The exact date for the event has not been finalised but is likely to be early January on a mid-week day from 17.30-20.30.

We hope that from this event you will not only advertise your own companies and raise awareness but possibly find future employees.

If this is something you would be interested in taking part in, or if you have any further questions, please do get in touch.

I very much look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Simon Brown
