Event description

Inspire our students

This event is for our 'Step into Work' students who are all students who have expressed an interest in applying for Apprenticeships/Jobs after A levels. It would be great if speakers have come from a non-university background and can talk about opportunities within their company for college leavers. The application process for Apprenticeships and College Leaver programmes is intense and very competitive so students will be looking for tips and advice about how to be successful. What would make them standout in the interview process? What skills and qualities do you look for in young people? Students will need to start applying for opportunities from Jan 2018 so this session is excellent preparation. They will be interested in a range of career sectors. In this session, business leaders will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
