About the Business Leaders

These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly.

About the teacher and students

The event was created by Leigh Shickle for 500 students at Gosforth Academy aged Age 13 - 16.

Event description

Come and assist us in giving our students the chance to meet a wide range of employers.

Our careers convention takes place throughout the day on our Autumn term review day. This enables our students and their parents to meet representatives from a wide range of employers and further education providers, find out more about a wide range of career opportunities and therefore be inspired in terms of their career ambitions.

As there are no timetabled lessons, students come in at different times throughout the day to meet with their form tutor to review their own progress, and then are required to attend the convention. By organising our careers convention this way (8.30 until 15.30) rather than as an evening event, we can therefore guarantee a very high level of attendance and participation.

Refreshments will be provided for all our guests.

We are particularly interested in students being able to meet employers from the following sectors:

Sport and Leisure
Social Care
Automotive industries
Engineering (all types)
Technology / Computing
Design
Hospitality
Travel and Tourism
Retail
The Arts
