About the teacher and students

The event was created by Susan Harris for 250 students at Benenden School aged Age 15 - 18.

Event description

Inspiration, role model to encourage female students to overcome gender stereotypes and persur STEM careers.

Working with teachers and students, Benenden hope to increase the engineering talent pool from classroom to boardroom, which will drive national economic growth. It is our hope that this exciting and innovative event will improve the visibility of successful scientists and engineers, encouraging girls to make appropriate A-level choices and achieve their dreams. There’s a world of exciting careers in science and technology, and we hope to be able to open up young minds to a wide range of possibilities. The conference will provide pertinent, in-depth and competent careers information, informative lectures and stimulating discussion that will help students to see beyond some of the myths and gender stereotypes. There will be plenty of opportunity to interact and network with industry leaders, academics and scientists- supporting our students and daughters into successful and fulfilling careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
