Mock Interview Day Year 11, 12 and 13
The opportunity for students to have a mock interview with an employer is a valuable experience which really helps them prepare for “the real thing”. We have run these skills sessions for many years and they have proved to be an enjoyable and useful experience for both students and employers who, of course, make these days possible for which we are very grateful. Running a day of mock interviews can help raise a company’s profile with students. We would ask you to be available from 8.15am to around 3.00pm and would like you to interview between 10-16 students but this is negotiable. The interview process should last around 20 minutes per student to include feedback.
You would receive the students CV and application form. We ask that questions are mainly competency based and are of the sort that could be asked at interview with any company, regardless of the sector the student may be interested in or that the interviewer works in. Students do not often prepare for such areas as commercial awareness, body language, etc so these can make ideal themes for the mock interviews. Students will be encouraged to ask questions during the feedback period as well as expecting the interviewer to give useful tips.
We would welcome your support with this programme and have received fantastic feedback from businesses who have worked with us in the past years. We cannot pay travel expenses but we are pleased to provide the interviewer lunch on the day!
Please let me know if you are still able to attend in November and I will add you to the confirmed list of employers. Closer to the time I will send further details including the application form we have asked students to complete.
We may pair you up during the interview process so students can be asked various questions from different people and expertise. We ask you to keep the questions fairly general open to all jobs. The application form the students completed last year was for a job at McDonalds (a starter job) a copy of the application form they complete will an be sent to you prior for your convenience. You will be given a pack containing; interview questions, feedback forms and delegate evaluations. You will also be provided with a list of the names of the students you will be seeing, along with a copy of their CV and job application form (if they have completed one) and a copy our guest internet access code should you need to check your work emails whilst you are here!
