We are looking for an energetic, enterprising and confident person to provide management and financial accounting support to our Finance Director and trustees. This position ideally would fit someone who is looking to train to become a qualified accountant and keen to work in the Ed Tech industry.

About you:

You have good accounting knowledge, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively with people at all levels, attention to detail and a well-organised approach to work, and good IT skills. Ideally, you are currently studying towards a professional accountancy qualification and in similar roles with knowledge of charity accounting SORP.

About the role:

We are seeking a Trainee Accountant to help us ensure that all young people gain meaningful exposure to the world of work between the ages of 6 and 24.

The role of the Trainee Accountant is to support the Finance Director in ensuring the financial management of the Charity.

Main areas of responsibility:

  1. ensuring the Charity’s restricted funds are accurately accounted for and properly utilised in line with the donor’s requirement and in a timely manner
  2. to prepare monthly management accounts and cashflow forecast
  3. to liaise with the bureau to ensure accurate processing of finance and payroll information
  4. to support the production of the annual budget
  5. to support the production of annual statutory accounts

Qualifications & abilities:

  • A graduate
  • Studying towards a professional accountancy qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
  • Accounting experience that encompasses a variety of finance work
  • Good IT skills
  • Teamworking skills
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Preparation of management accounts and statutory accounts (desirable)
  • Knowledge of charity accounting SORP (desirable)

Job Type: Full-time remuneration £22,000 – £35,000 (depending on qualification and experience) plus Study package and benefits.
